WHILE most of us have been grateful for a hot sum mer instead of our usual warm, rainy English weather, elsewhere it has proved to be almost too hot for vines. Hav ing tasted some 2003 wines from New Zealand recently the vintage has been smaller than usual, but more concen trated. France on the other hand is

The Story of Football's Wonder Kid Wayne Rooney by Harry Harris and Danny Fullbrook, priced at £9.99, pub lished by Robson Books.
WONDERKID Wayne Rooney was only 17 years and 111 days
. when he became the youngest player to star in the England line-up. Now he is regarded as an old timer and this book pays tribute
While this is a natural acid in grapes it is not common prac tice to acidify in France, indeed it is not allowed for any Appellation Controlee wines, but is common prac tice in warm countries like South Africa for most white wines grown in warm/hot areas. The governing body for the French wine trade, the INAO, has given a universal green light for this process. So while this is to make a bal anced wine, in the sense of acidity and fruit in harmony, some areas like the right bank in Bordeaux have another problem, the resulting juice will be hard to ferment.
