Moorland pupils’ gift boxes for the needy


PUPILS at Moorland School are helping children in other parts of the worlds who are less fortunate than themselves this Christmas. They have filled a total of 80 shoe


boxes with a whole range of gifts and essentials. These will now be sent to the poor and needy living in eastern Europe.

DESPITE the poor weather, the Christmas fair organised by members of Downham WI, and held in the village hall, was well- supported. WI members manned hamper


and cake stalls, while other organisations in the village did brisk trade selling bric-a-hrac, Christmas decorations and gifts. There was also a bran tub,


tombola and jar stall plus a com­ petition to name the giant snow­ man. Mince pies and coffee were


served and the WI raised £450, which will go towards funds. The star draw prize of a


Christmas hamper (yellow ticket number 238) was unfortunately unclaimed on the day. The owner of the winning tick­
