. Since the first Poppy Day was held on November 11th, 1921, many more wars have

; been fought and more help needed by the disabled, traumatised and their dependants. The Poppy Appeal is about both remem

brance and assistance. We remember the sacrifice made by those who served, but it also reminds us that help is needed by many ex-servicemen and women, and their fami lies. Once discharged from the military sys tem, they often require considerable assis tance to continue their lives. The Royal British Legion exists to safe-

emotional.support to millions who have served and are cur rently servingin the Armed

We are the dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset

glow, Loved and were loved, and now we

lie In Flanders' fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe; To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high, If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies

grow In Flanders' fields.
