Miss World: After They Were Famous, Granada, 8.00pm. This always-fasci nating series continues with a look at what hap pened to some of the most famous Miss World entrants. The competition had been set up by Eric Morley in 1951, but really took off in the 1970s, when it was watched by 30 mil lion people. Back then it was must-see TV before being booted off our screens amid claims of sexism. During each com petition, many contestants

SATELLITE PICK OF THE DAY

Galaxy Quest, Sky Movies Premier, 7.00pm. In this movie, Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman and Tony Shalhoub join forces to play the stars of fictional cult sci«fi show Galaxy Quest. The series was cancelled years ago, but the actors are still in demand, at conventions, where they are expected to turn up in character. However, some of their biggest fans are a tribe of aliens, who believe the programme to be a historical document. This clever, funny film pokes fun at shows like Star Trek and their obsessive followings.

The Chair, BBC1, 6.40pm. Whatever game you’re in, you’ve got to keep a cool head if you’re going to win. Take former enfant terrible of the tennis world John McEnroe for instance. Well, the tables have turned for this new game show— McEnroe is the man in charge. Contestants sit in a chair wired up to a heart monitoring system, while answering as many general knowledge questions as possible without allowing ■ their pulse rate to exceed a certain level, otherwise

PICK OF THE DAY Sf/’SSB;'

they won’t be allowed to take part until it drops again — and for every second they exceed the level, the money they have won is reduced.
