to have reasoned that if Porsche can name its two-wheel and four-wheel drive models such, then the public is going to under stand what the difference between a Sirion Rally 2 and Rally 4 will be - and so it proves. The £9,995 Rally 2 is two (front) wheel
drive and the £10,995 Rally 4 shares its power between all four wheels.

' The Rally2 is a good deal quicker than the heavier Rally4, sprinting to 60 m.p.h. in 7.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 115 m.p.h. The Rally4 may live up to its name by
being quicker on a loose surface, but on dry tarmac it records figures of 8.9 sec onds and 112 m.p.h. - still admirably1 brisk. Peak torque is plugged at 1051b/ft at 4,100 rpm, about par for most manu facturers’ 1.6-litre models. The Sirion’s existing 101 b.h.p. 1.3-litre
engine has been teased out to a hainer 11 lb.h.p. . The apparent misprint pricing and Dai-
hatsu’s commendable reputation for inno vation and reliability may yet enable the Sirion Rally models to carve themselves a small but successful niche.
