provision for careers edu cation is very good and there is a strong sense of belonging to a real com munity, with consistent application of excellent procedures for eliminat ing oppressive behaviour. The inspectors had only two suggestions on
where the school should improve further, re ordering the timetable to make its structure more in line with that recom mended and improving provision for a daily act of worship. The chairman of Rib blesdale's governors, Dr
John Saunders, says th a t the repor t is a tremendous endorse ment of the work which has been going on at the school over the years. "I think th a t people
will be particularly impressed by the quality of teaching the inspec
tors have highlighted, rig h t a t the top of national standards. "The behaviour and
attitudes of pupils were also especially noted." Ribblesdale has 1,220
pupils but extra accom modation will allow more and by September
2003 there will be 1,300. The school council was one of numerous Rib blesdale features fav ourably mentioned by the inspectors. Its mem bers are pictured here in happy mood with Ms Ward.
