CHRISTMAS spirit remains alight in Sabden as it hosts the celebrated professional theatre company Blaize's production of “A Christmas Spirit”, on Satur
day. An evening of songs, stories,
music and a dramatic rendition of Charles Dickens's "A Christmas Carol" unfolds as the cast squabble, philosophise, practise songs and tell stories until finally they are ready for a glimpse of what future Christ mases may hold as Jacob Marley's ghost drags them kicking and screaming across the footlights and
into the opening night. “Christmas Spirit” is suitable for

SCOTLAND has to be high on my list of favourite countries. The scenery is simply breathtaking
and, more importantly, on the doorstep. So I was delighted to get my hands on a copy of Colin Prior's wonderful
book. I t is simply, a magnificent photo
graphic record of the country’s land
scape. The book follows on from Highland Wilderness, which was just as impres
sive. His latest creation contains striking
double pages full of rarely pho tographed areas of the Scottish wilder
ness and shows why Colin has won so many awards for his photography. I t has taken Colin four years to put
together the photographs and he has picked his favourite locations for most
of the shots. The images include focusing the sol
stices of mid-winter and summer and
other seasonal shifts. Colin took most of his photographs
in the magical hours of dawn and dusk when composition, fine light and colour combine to create a remarkable
image. I t is definitely worth a place on your
book shelf. REBECCA SMITH
