The Princess was determined that her sons would not have the unhappy childhood she experienced when her own parents di vorced. She lavished them with affection and was often seen hugging and laughing with them in public.
As youngsters, William and 12-year-old Harry increasingly led a double life. With their mother they enjoyed trips to Disney land, went white-water rafting, played ten- nis and visited the cinema.
The princess took the young William to
meet homeless people during her humani tarian charity work. With her they dressed informally in baseball cap, jeans and train ers.
But in their father’s care they were seen hunting and fishing in Balmoral, Scodand,
dressed in tweeds or at formal Royal occa sions dressed in a suit.
Wills, like his father, went to boarding school at the age of eight. He then went to
the top public school Eton. Diana and the boys wave to crowds from the Royal Yacht Britannia in Toronto
