Red Red Wine, Stay Close to Me

SEDUCTIVE, CRIMSON, AND ELEGANT

New recipe for Valentine’s Day

INTRODUCING… Brockmans’ ‘Red, Red Wine, Stay Close to Me’

Brockmans Gin, the ‘Properly Improper Gin’ has released an original cocktail recipe for Valentine’s Day 2022. A cocktail called ‘Red Red Wine, Stay Close to Me’ seems a fitting tribute to the day of love.

This tasty tipple will seduce gin lovers, wine lovers, and fun lovers too. It’s a properly gorgeous drink with the blackberry notes enhancing the noble berries naturally present in Brockmans Gin.

The Blackberry Shrub is easy but the ingredients need time to macerate so pre-prep this from the beginning of February.

Ingredients for one cocktail 2oz (60ml) Brockmans Gin 0.75oz (25ml) fresh lemon juice 0.5oz (15ml) homemade blackberry shrub 0.25oz (7ml) simple syrup

0.5oz (15ml) Red Wine such as 'Côtes-du-Rhône' GARNISH: DARK EDIBLE FLOWERS

Prepare

Start by making the Shrub. Blackberry Shrub ingredients: 440 gms of blackberries 400 gms of sugar

475ml of apple cider vinegar Method for the Shrub

In a large 2 litre preserving jar with a tight-fitting lid,

combine berries and sugar. Mash berries well. Set in the fridge for 2 days, checking and swirling fruit occasionally, until sugar has dissolved. After 2 days and once sugar has dissolved, pour in the vinegar, shake and swirl

everything together, and set in the fridge another 5 – 10 days. Check mixture each day and give everything a good stir. As you approach the five-day mark, start to taste the mixture – once the vinegar and sweetness have melded and mellowed to your liking, strain the mixture through a sieve and discard the berries. Pour the strained syrup into a clean and sterilised bottle with a close-fitting lid. Store in the fridge for up to three weeks. Now the quick part…

Method for the Cocktail Combine all the cocktail ingredients into a

shaker with ice. Shake vigorously. Strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with edible flowers.
