architectural interest. In the Norman nave, you will find the Ducking Stool, the last to be used in England, a unique object of English social history. The Priory is open 7am until 4pm.
For history lovers there are also two nearby National Trust properties, Berrington Hall, located about three miles north of the town and Croft Castle and parkland, just a little west of Berrington, both well worth a visit with both fabulous interiors, gardens and parkland to enjoy.
There are also lots of country pursuits to be enjoyed in the nearby vicinity. Lace up your walking boots or get out the bike and you will find lots of wonderful tracks to enjoy the finest Herefordshire scenery.
If you are looking for shops, like many Herefordshire towns, its streets are lined with quirky independent and specialist shops with everything from antiques and art to gourmet food and fashion. There are also lots of fabulous places to enjoy a meal and drinks, from quaint cafes to pubs and fine dining restaurants.
AN APPLE A DAY The Priory Church, holds an apple fair each year, taking place
this year on Saturday, October 15 from 10am – 4pm. Here you will find apple identification, refreshments, advice and information, stalls and displays, tastings, crafts, competitions, apple pressing, musical entertainment, face painting and Jenny Pipes Morris. Entrance is £1.50, children free.
