Haitham Mattar has been appointed managing director of India, Middle East & Africa at IHG Hotels & Resorts. Mattar receives the role with 25 years’


experience in hospitality and tourism after previously serving on the Saudi Ministry of Tourism where he influenced and implemented the country’s highly ambitious tourism strategy. He will report to Kenneth Macpherson, CEO, Europe, Middle East, Asia and Africa (EMEAA). Accor has appointed Stephen Alden to the role of CEO Raffles & Orient Express. Alden takes charge of the role after creating and launching the Dedica Anthology brand in 2017, encompassing a portfolio of nine distinctive properties

HMI would also like to congratulate Pawel Lewtak for being named Hotel Manager of the Year 2021 at the European Hotel Managers Association (EHMA) in Rome. With more than 20 years of professional and diversified experience within international and Polish chains, as well as unique independent hotels, Lewtak has worked at Warsaw’s famous Polonia Palace Hotel since 2013. During 2020, he was instrumental in setting up new sanitary standards for hotels in Poland together with the Polish Chamber of the Hotel Industry and the Polish Tourism Organisation.
