THONET
Architect Carsten Joost has created a home for his family near Hamburg in a modern cubic design with minimalist aesthetics. Joost chose Thonet’s iconic tubular-steel cantilever chairs as the perfect complement to the house design. Six S 64 chairs by Marcel Breuer (design: 1938) in the stained black beech version with natural canework surround the dining table. In addition, the S 43 chair, designed by Mart Stam in 1931, with stained black wood elements has been positioned in various locations throughout the house. “The chairs are unbelievably comfortable. And, in the end, that is what really matters when it comes to seating.”

Junckers has added EPDs to its solid hardwood two-strip parquet flooring: Twin Herringbone, a pre-finished herringbone patterned floor made in solid oak or beech; and Single Stave Blocks, a solid oak parquet floor which can be laid in a number of patterns. An EPD evaluates the environmental impact of a company’s manufacturing and material sourcing and now includes declarations for dismantling, transportation and disposal as well as the potential for recycling.
