BELOW THE HOOK Ӏ SECTOR SNAPSHOT

Solutions’s APS system at the Taubenkopf windfarm, near Freiburg. Here Ökostromgruppe Freiburg is replacing six old turbines with three new Enercon units. The topography of the jobsite meant that the use of guide ropes would not have been possible so the RBC-D 50 yoke and APS combo was the solution. Enercon has ordered 30 RBC-D

yokes from Ematec in recent years, deploying them worldwide.

OFFSHORE WIND UK-based lifting and spreader beam specialist Modulift is also involved in the wind industry – in its case primarily offshore. Offshore assemblies are even larger than their onshore cousins, and can be even more challenging to transport and to erect. For one thing blades, turbines, and nacelles need to be unloaded from and reloaded onto supply vessels. Dockside operations are therefore central. Modulift has designed and

manufactured a giant lifting rig for the fast and efficient lifting and assembly of 5MW wind turbines for Harland and Wolff – a historic Belfast, Northen Ireland-based shipyard, founded in 1861 and famous for building the Titanic. The turbines are for European

energy company Vattenfall’s Ormonde Offshore Wind Farm

MULTISEC MODULAR SPREADER BEAMS GAIN PRESTIGIOUS DNV TYPE APPROVAL

UK spreader beam manufacturer Multisec’s core range of iconic pink modular spreader beams have offi cially achieved DNV Type Approval. Issued by DNV at Høvik, Norway, the certifi cation verifi es that the Multisec modular spreader beam range fully complies with DNV-ST-0378: Offshore and Platform Lifting Appliances – one of the industry’s most stringent design and safety standards. This confi rms that the beams have been assessed against demanding

requirements covering structural design, global and local load analysis, material impact toughness, qualifi ed welding procedures, manufacturing quality control, and full traceability of all components. Multisec says this means that its spreader beams are fi t for the challenging

offshore and heavy industrial environments worldwide. "Achieving DNV certifi cation is a signifi cant milestone for our team and a

strong endorsement of the engineering behind the Multisec brand,” said Olivia Gardiner, Multisec sales and operations manager. “This accreditation further strengthens our position in global markets and gives our customers even greater confi dence when choosing our products.”
