RANGE OF OPTIONS For now, the electric and hybrid all terrain crane market remains in its early stages, but the direction of travel is becoming increasingly clear. Manufacturers are no longer merely presenting concepts or prototype machines at trade fairs; they are delivering working cranes into the hands of major fleet owners and gathering valuable real-world operational data from active jobsites. KEY DRIVER “Sustainability is one of the key drivers of our business,” says Mammoet’s de Leeuw. “In the Netherlands, and beyond, requirements are increasing rapidly. Cities such as Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and The Hague already enforce zero-emission targets for many projects, and carbon footprints are increasingly evaluated before contracts are awarded.” For fleet owners operating in urban environments or on infrastructure and energy projects with strict environmental requirements, the advantages of hybrid and electric are becoming harder to ignore.
