COMMUNITY PHARMACY OF THE YEAR

DENNY PHARMACY FALKIRK

Since taking over an underperforming Lloyds Pharmacy in May 2023, Denny Pharmacy has transformed into a patient-focused healthcare provider. Through innovation and digital integration, they have streamlined access to services via an online portal, allowing patients to book consultations, screenings and vaccinations with ease. Their smoking cessation programme has set a benchmark in NHS engagement and their triage clinic collaboration with local surgeries has improved patient care efficiency. With a 150% increase in turnover and approximately 2,000 winter vaccinations administered, Denny Pharmacy exemplifies modern community pharmacy, making healthcare more accessible and responsive to local needs.

LOCHARDIL PHARMACY INVERNESS

Despite facing an unprecedented challenge when a vehicle crashed into the pharmacy, Lochardil Pharmacy demonstrated resilience, reopening within 24 hours and maintaining patient care without disruption. The team excels in clinical service delivery, leading NHS Highland in Pharmacy First Plus consultations and pioneering private services such as lipid screening and weight management. They actively engage in NHS committees, influencing healthcare planning. Their response to the accident, including business continuity planning and staff support, has been widely praised, solidifying their role as an essential healthcare provider and a model of innovation in community pharmacy.

ROWLANDS PHARMACY ELLON, ABERDEENSHIRE

Rowlands Pharmacy in Ellon has redefined pharmacy services through an ACPT-led dispensary model, maximising pharmacists’ time for clinical consultations. Their SiSu health machine enables patients to monitor vital health metrics, reducing demand on GP services, while initiatives like their weight management programme (with a collective 285kg lost by patients) and earwax removal service have significantly improved community healthcare access. Their community hub hosts local groups and charities, further strengthening their outreach. By prioritising digitalisation, automation and pharmacist-led care, they have successfully expanded their role within the healthcare system, providing an innovative and patient-focused service.
