Prime Group Acquires Canadian Facility In December, Prime Group Holdings, LLC, one of the largest private owners of self-storage in the United States, made its first Canadian self-storage acquisition. The 64,050-square-foot, single-story facility on approximately five acres in Sherwood Park, Alta., offers 54,677 rentable square feet, 472 units, and 22 parking spaces. It was previously operated under the Pockit Self Storage banner. The Storage Acquisition Group’s Canadian Director of Acquisitions, Lloyd McDonald, led the transaction.

U-Haul To Develop In British Columbia U-Haul has acquired four acres of industrial land in Vernon, B.C., for the development of a state-of-the-art, multistory facility more than 100,000 square feet in size. The project, which will offer more than 700 units with climate-controlled features, is expected to be completed by the fall of 2025.

Boxwell Adds Doors To Product Line Boxwell has expanded its product line with the addition of roll-up doors. Prime Group founder, principal, and CEO Robert Moser cited nearby Edmonton’s growing population, a lack of self-storage facilities, and “more residents and businesses experiencing meaningful life changes and business oppor- tunities that are driving the need for high-quality storage options” as the reasons why the market became Prime Group’s entry point into Canada.

Forum, Make Space Launch Fund Forum Asset Management and Make Space Inc. have formed a strategic joint venture, establishing Forum Make Space (FMS). The partnership has launched its flagship evergreen self-storage fund, known as the Forum Make Space Storage Fund (MSSF), which comprises a portfolio of 28 assets across five provinces for a total of 1.4 million rentable square feet of storage and $200 million in assets under management. “We see tremendous potential for growth in the fragmented and underserved self-storage market, and our partnership with Forum enhances our capabilities to capitalize on these opportunities,” said Danny Freedman, co-owner at Make Space. “The launch of MSSF is a com- mitment to continuing to deliver value to our investors.” Forum is actively seeking to invest in partnerships with leading private market investment firms and teams across real estate, infrastructure, and private equity as well, according to the press release announcing the alliance.
