Vaultra Storage Hosts Charity Campaign On Dec. 15, Vaultra Storage, which operates more than 20 facilities throughout Canada, kicked off its “Sleigh the Clutter” charity campaign at its Hamilton, Ont ., location. The facility collected donations of furniture, appliances, flooring, tools, household items, and other goods to benefit Habitat for Humanity and its ReStore retail program; proceeds from the sales of donated items help Habitat for Humanity build and repair homes. “We’re on a mission to transform lives and create brighter futures for those in need,” Vaultra Storage officials stated at the start of the campaign. “Imagine a self-storage unit filled to the brim with items that could really impact a family’s life with household essentials, gently used furni- ture, and more.”


Canadian Facility Certified Green A partnership between Advanced Self Storage and the Nicola Wealth Real Estate (NWRE) team developed a net zero carbon facility in Maple Ridge, B.C., that recently earned certification from the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC), underscoring its commitment to sustainability and adherence to reducing its carbon footprint. Josh Anderson, vice president of development at NWRE, says, “Maple Meadows represents a significant achievement in our portfolio, showcasing our ability to lead and execute innovative projects that align with our values and meet high sustainability standards.” Advanced Self Storage’s sustainable measures include all-electric systems that eliminate reliance on fossil fuels, high-efficiency air-source heat pumps for efficient heating and cooling, an 82.5 percent efficient energy recovery ventilation system, high-quality curtainwall glazing to minimize heat loss and enhance energy effi- ciency, energy-efficient low-power LED lighting with

occupancy controls, a mixed air system with an econo- mizer mode for optimal cooling, 100 kW solar PV panels on the roof providing 100 percent of annual operational energy and submetering installations for real-time monitoring of energy use. Their efforts are expected to achieve annual operational energy savings of $55,000, a 99 percent reduction in operational greenhouse gas emissions, and an annual generation of 164.6 MWh of renewable solar photovoltaic (PV) electricity.


StorageVault Completes Acquisition StorageVault Canada Inc. has completed the acquisition of two of the stores announced on Nov. 6, 2023, for an aggre- gate purchase price of approximately $49.1 million. One of the of the acquisitions is arm’s length and one is a related party acquisition with Access Self Storage Inc. as the vendor. The aggregate purchase price of the acquisitions, subject to customary adjustments, was paid with mortgage financing and funds on hand.


Apple Self Storage Expands Portfolio Apple Self Storage has opened a new facility at 397 Bayfield Road within the Suncoast Mall in Goderich, Ont. An adaptive reuse of under-utilized real estate, Apple Self Storage in Goderich features 24/7 video surveillance, access controls, and individual unit alarms, as well as indoor, heated units in a variety of sizes. In addition, Apple Self Storage has acquired Melanson Road Mini Storage in Dieppe, N.B.


The approximately 30,000-square-foot facility, which offers drive-up access and enhanced security measures, now operates under the Apple Self Storage brand. With this acquisition, Apple Self Storage owns and operates nearly 60 percent of the storage in the area.
