December, I would be talking about nearing the end of the COVID tunnel and rounding the corner to what will be somewhat closer to “nor- mal” than we have seen in nearly two years. But as I write this, the new Omicron strain of COVID has been found in a rapidly growing number of Ontarians and appears to be climbing. Many of the provinces are now going back to tougher re- strictions indefinitely, and who knows what’s next. What I do know is that somehow the self-storage industry in Can- ada, the U.S., and globally (from what has been reported) has been thriving. I know that through the unknowns and various adversities that we have had to endure, I am both personally and professionally proud, inspired, and encour- aged by all our Canadian self-storage owners, managers, and teams of people in our industry who have worked so

Whether it is assisting with com- plimentary storage for gather- ing of PPE (Personal Protection Equipment), food banks, etc., or helping our senior customers with technology to keep every- one safe and allow them to pay


from home using the internet, meeting them in the parking lot to keep them safe in their own cars, or simply being helpful self-storage people.


As everyone has been adapting to the new rules and


changes in our everyday lives, here at the Canadian Self Storage Association we have been as well. Very quickly we all learned about something that many of us had never heard of 28 months ago called “Zoom.” With the availability
