Janus International Group, Inc., recently announced appoint- ment of Anselm Wong as executive vice president and CFO. He will report directly to CEO Ramey Jackson. Wong brings 25 years of experience in finance leadership and strategy roles, most recently serving as CFO for General Electric Digital, to oversee Janus’ finance organization, including financial plan- ning and analysis, accounting and reporting, internal audit, corporate development, and investor relations.

AZSA Announces Executive Board Arizona Self-Storage Association (AZSA) has announced its 2022 executive board. Jeff Gorden, president and owner of the Gorden Group, who’s been an AZSA member for 13 years and a part of the leadership team for 10 years, will be serving as president. He has been an integral part of ensuring that AZSA members have the resources and services necessary to thrive in the self-storage industry. The association’s re-elected board members include David Brown, Jeff Gorden, Matt Hall, Ray McRae, Belinda Rosthenhausler, and Chris Rudel. McRae will serve as vice president. Whitney Jurjevich was elected as treasurer and Carol Mixon as secretary.


NYSSA Holds Investment Forum In May, the New York Self Storage Association (NYSSA) held its 15th annual Investment Forum. The Capital Markets presen- tation included a panel discussion led by moderator Tom Sherlock of Talonvest Capital, who interviewed Marshall Nevins from Blackstone, Tom Hughes from Harrison Street, and Brandon Goetzman from Blue Vista Capital. Tom Sapontzis of Colliers Valuation led a panel of the top mortgage brokers in the industry to address the recent changes in capital require- ments and interest rates. Jefferson Shreve, current chairman of the national SSA, spoke to the audience on the important legislative work the SSA was doing on behalf of the industry. A presentation by Christian Sonne, MAI and specialty practice co-leader of the NKF self storage valuation team, included historical cap rate trends for self-storage over the past several years. Alyssa Quill, founder and CEO of Storage Asset Manage- ment (SAM) moderated a panel of the three largest REIT third-party management companies. Nick Malagisi, SIOR, the NYSSA program chair and managing director at SVN Commer- cial Realty, held a “fireside chat” with Chris Burnam, CEO of Storage Mart, on their Manhattan Mini Storage acquisition; he also moderated a panel of vice presidents of real estate

of top operators in the U.S., including Extra Space, Life Storage, CubeSmart, and Merit Hill Capital. The association’s next Invest- ment Forum is slated to be held in January 2023.

The Storage Groups Partners With Toy Storage Nation The Storage Group recently announced the launching of the Toy Storage Nation website following a partnership. In addition, Steve Lucas, CEO and managing partner at The Storage Group, joined the advisory board for Toy Storage Nation. The Storage Group built a new website for Toy Storage Nation to enhance and expand upon information for this growing industry. The new website, along with the critical digital marketing efforts of The Storage Group, will propel Toy Storage Nation and drive the company to meet and exceed the expectations of its client base.


AI Lean Raises Funds To Automate Liens In June, AI Lean closed on a $1.9 million round of investment led by Launchpad Venture Group. The investment will be used to grow the customer success team of the company and invest in product inno- vation. AI Lean uses artificial intelligence and lean process design to streamline the task of managing lien property sales. AI Lean is a Software with a Service (SwasS) platform delivering an integrated tenant communication solution that provides compliance for stor- age liens. AI Lean works with front-end and back-end software providers to complement their systems.


New Developments & Openings


A new All-In-1 storage facility in Bluewell, W.V., opened its doors to customers this July after a ribbon-cutting celebration. The property has more than 400 units with both


climate-controlled and semi-climate-controlled units.


Nashville-based real estate investor, distiller, and entrepreneur Darek Bell and Madison Capital Group’s real estate executive Neil Dyer are planning a Go Store It self-storage


facility for Williamson County in Franklin, Tenn. According to a press release, the future 151,000-square-foot, four-story building will be located in Franklin’s Berry Farms at the former Goose Creek Inn site. They recently acquired the property from a group of individuals for an undisclosed sum. Ashley Compton at Colliers International was the broker for the transaction.


This July, the Brownwood Area Cham- ber of Commerce in Texas held a ribbon cutting for Elite Storage 325. Elite Storage 325 is owned and operated by Robert Wade.
