Police Crime Prevention Initiatives, Police CPI, has been helping prevent crime and reduce demand on police officers since being established by the police service in 1989. At the heart of the Police CPI mission is the aim of sustainable and measurable reduction in crime through design innovation, collaboration and education. Police CPI is a police- owned, self-funded organisation that operates under a not-for-profit business model, meaning it can maintain the financial freedom necessary to produce crime demand and reduction innovations/initiatives in very short time periods. As part of the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) Prevention Coordination Committee, Police CPI’s professionalism and veracity ensures it works alongside key institutions in its crime prevention efforts: the Home Office, the Ministry

of Housing, communities and local government, local authorities, British and European standards authorities, trade associations, test houses, certification bodies, the construction industry, manufacturers and companies involved in security products – both within the UK and those in countries that supply the UK – as well as many other organisations.
