HERE TO HELP
The Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW) represents and promotes the welfare and efficiency of its members. PFEW is the voice of policing, campaigning on behalf of members to ensure that they are given a fair deal financially, legally, and professionally.
CIVIL AND CRIMINAL CLAIMS One of PFEW’s busiest departments is the Claims Department. It is responsible for processing all Criminal, Misconduct

and Civil applications for legal assistance. Every case requirement is different, but support is offered for those whose

applications meet the standards of the funding criteria, in accordance with the Federation’s fund rules. Applications for legal assistance are
carefully considered and determined on a case-by-case basis by the Federation. Where approved, they are passed on to the in-house legal department or external panel solicitors, who are instructed to consider the merits and prospects of any case before a decision is made for any further legal advice and
representations at any proceedings. When a member needs help from
the claims team, they initiate a claim by contacting their Federation office
