Subject-verb agreement errors occur when the number of the subject is not the same as the number of the verb.

- Cross out the prepositional phrases that come between the subject and the verb to eliminate distractions that make it difficult to determine subject-verb agreement. o The books about the new bridge are in the bookstore now.
- Reverse the order of the sentence if the subject appears at the end of the sentence to determine subject-verb agreement. o Over the building flies a solitary flag. // A solitary flag flies over the building.
