YOUR COMPANY’S FUTURE YOUR STEP BY STEP GUIDE TO SURVIVAL
MEET TAXI GURU: ATEEQ NASEEM
It’s a great honour to be asked to write for PHTM and I’m delighted to announce my
regular
column, where I will be sharing my industry knowledge and ideas in the largest taxi trade publication in the UK.
I’ve been in the trade since I was 14 (in what would seem a different era) and have nearly three decades of experience within the private hire industry. I’m currently a manager at Albatross Cars in Derby, a family-run business that’s been operating since 1966, a golden year for those who know!
I’ve also had the privilege to meet and get to know many taxi company owners across the UK and have some strong views that I’ll be churning out for your consumption over the next few months.
INTRODUCTION
My goal in writing this regular feature is to provide fellow members of our trade with valuable insights into the taxi industry and to give my personal feedback on how I think the trade can best move forward.
At the core of my belief is that we are all stronger when we are together and it’s my intention to help in fostering a collaborative approach with different taxi stakeholders to bring mutual benefit to everyone in our profession.
Over the next few months, I’ll be discussing a wide range of issues and topics related to the taxi industry and I’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback.

With the taxi trade at a crossroads and the whole industry in a precarious position, I feel obliged to put my best foot forward and try to tackle some of the biggest issues facing it today.
The topics I will be covering will be vast and will touch on subjects such as:
• Recruiting new drivers - keeping, rewarding and communicating with your drivers
• Going green - how taxis can transition to electric vehicles smoothly through solid infrastructure
• Using social media - to grow your taxi base
• Uniformed drivers - and the importance of drivers as ambassadors for the taxi trade
• Maintaining customer loyalty - through community engagement
• Embracing technology - how to maximise technology
• Account work - methods for increasing work (school/hospital/corporate contacts etc.)
• Working together - the importance of working together with other taxi firms and networking
• Vision and aspirations - for the future of the taxi industry
Thanks for reading so far - I appreciate the engagement and know how many temptations there are to get distracted, so well done for reaching this stage!
There’s going to be plenty to talk about over the following months so feel free to connect directly with me via email at:

CHANGES IN THE LANDSCAPE
Since my first initiation into the taxi world as a teenager, I’ve seen some huge changes in the industry with the current changes we’re facing today amongst the most dramatic.
