PARTNERSHIPS & EXPANSIONS ADDISON LEE PARTNERS WITH POSTTAG

Addison Lee has integrated precision location service provider PostTag into its address search tools to help pinpoint pick up and drop off addresses more efficiently than ever before. PostTag’s

innovative address

search tools, will complement Addison Lee’s existing in-house allocation technology, to improve the performance of this critical component during the booking process. PostTag’s

unique

technology works smoothly, be- hind the scenes, to ensure drivers arrive at the precise location. Since November 2021, Addison Lee has introduced 450 fully electric vehicles on to its fleet. This fully electric fleet will grow to 1,000 by January 2023. Improved location precision not only helps with efficiency of the fleet but also the

carbon impact of journeys. The new technology also makes booking quick and easy across all Addison Lee channels – app, online and phone - improving both the customer and driver experience. Patrick Gallagher, COO of Addison Lee said: “Addison Lee has always prided itself in the highest quality service. Location accuracy is a

659 TAXIS YORK BOUGHT BY HULL-BASED FIRM, DRIVE

One of York's biggest firms, 659 Taxis, has been bought out by Drive based in Hull. Drive MD, Chris Hall, said the deal means the team of eight dispatchers in York are staying with the firm and are now supported by a team of 50 working across Yorkshire. He said they’re looking to increase the current fleet of 60 drivers. Drive was created six years ago to improve the taxi market in Hull. Since then the company has merged eight smaller taxi firms into one, creating an unrivalled service for their drivers and customers by reducing waiting time and dead mileage.” In 2021 Drive also acquired businesses in Doncaster. Having recently rebranded their vehicle stickers and office to their “Drive Blue” it really has been all change in the short time that Drive has been in York. Mr Hall also outlined some of the other immediate changes which have been introduced. He said: “At Drive, drivers are paid their fares twice each week with the longest any driver needs to wait for their funds being four days.”

huge part of this and Addison Lee has invested in its own technology to ensure it is a leader in mobility. “This partnership with PostTag is the next stage in location precision as our drivers navigate the continuing changes to the capital’s road network.” Paul Yewman, CEO of PostTag, added: “Today close enough is no longer good enough. With approximately 60% of all UK addresses being at least a football field away from where a sat nav system takes you, PostTag cuts down on wasted time, wasted miles and CO2

emissions by

delivering the drivers precisely where they need to be – first time. As Addison Lee is at the forefront of the move to EVs, this precision reduces ‘range anxiety’ and aids a seamless transition to EVs.”

SKYLINE EXPANDS SERVICES TO MIDDLESBROUGH

Skyline Taxis is expanding its services to Middlesbrough for the first time. The company has grown from five cars to a fleet of around 130 drivers, after setting up a decade ago. The family firm, which up to now has only covered the Stockton and Billingham areas, says its call handlers have been turning away around 1,000 calls a week from Middlesbrough customers. Now the firm, run by seven brothers, is carrying out a big recruitment drive to find another 100 HC and PH drivers. MD, Tahir Mahmood, said: “We’ve already had interest from around 40 drivers. They want to join us and some have already joined. Middlesbrough people have a choice now. “Good service is important for everybody, our aim is, if you want a taxi straightaway you should get it within 10 to 15 minutes. “This is the most important thing. If there is a wait, and you tell them it’s going to be a bit longer, most customers don’t mind waiting.”
