point of sale ..... point of sale .. FOURTH E7™ FOR CARLISLE CABBIE!

Cab Direct’s purpose- built Peugeot E7™ is firm favourite with dri- ver’s up and down the country.

performance and economy.

One such

driver is Robert Thom- linson, from Carlisle, who has recently taken delivery of his fourth E7™ and can’t praise his new cab enough.

Robert says: “I’ve been a taxi driver for 17 years.

Before

changing over to the E7 back in 1994 I had been driving a TX1. I like to change my cab every few years but when the time came to change I didn’t fancy a TX2 and decided, after a bit of research, that the E7 was the best vehicle for the job. Since then, I’ve only ever had E7s and wouldn’t go back to

anything else.”

“I got a fantastic deal from Cab Direct on my latest taxi – the E7 SE Plus. I really can’t fault it.”

Pioneers in diesel engines since 1928, Peugeot continues to lead the world in diesel technology. Powered by the latest generation of Peugeot HDi engines, the E7™ power plant offers a class leading blend of

MERCEDES-BENZ VITO 113 CDI

In fact, according to Robert, economy is one of E7’s most impressive features. He explains: “The E7 is definitely a money saver. With increasing fuel costs and the economy the way it is, every little helps. E7 definitely saves me money on diesel.” Not only is E7’s latest diesel engine a stag- gering 20 per cent more efficient than its predecessor, its aero- dynamic, modern design, featuring a low profile taxi sign and rear spoiler for reduced wind resist- ance, also offers greater efficiency and is guaranteed to save you money.

E7™ is first rate when

it comes to driveability too! Returning a plen- tiful 120 brake horsepower is just part of the story.

As

any taxi driver knows, low-end torque is cru- cial and the E7's HDi engine delivers a mag- nificent 70% of its punchy torque output at just 1,250 rpm. Touch the accelerator and the HDi engine responds instantly and eagerly. Take your foot off the pedal and the E7™ decelerates with perfect poise provid- ing all-round

smoothness. Robert says: “The E7 is great to drive. It’s really comfortable and manoeuvrable.”

Where E7™ really excels is in the amount of room it affords you. The E7’s spacious, six-seat, passenger compartment promis- es customers a relaxing journey every fare. Plus, thanks to E7’s celebrated EasySlide™ rear seat you can create even more room – either for your passengers or for their luggage in the

back. This versatility means space will never be a problem again.

Robert concludes: “I love my E7. And my customers love it too. If you ask me, E7 is the perfect hackney taxi.” For more information on the Peugeot E7™ call Cab Direct free on 0800 916 3058, email info@cabdi- rect.com or visit www.cabdirect.com See our adverts throughout the paper.

A GRAND FOR SELBY CABBIE FROM MYSTERY TIPPER

It was a bright and blustery June day, per- fect weather for a stroll by the river on my way to tip my latest lucky cabbie. Hanging on to my trilby against the summer breeze, I fol- lowed the course of the River Ouse, until out of the corner of my eye, I saw the ancient towers of the abbey glinting in the morning sun. I decided to investigate.

I entered the abbey, watched by gargoyles peering from the medieval masonry. I gasped. The intricately carved arches, the kaleidoscope of colour cast by the stained glass. It was magnificent. But I was wasting time. I would- n’t find my cabbie hiding in the nave. I walked out into Selby market place. It was bustling with people, but no cabs. I hurried down the busy street, anxious to catch a fleet- ing glance of my sticker, but there was no one in sight. Time was against me. Then I thought, the railway sta- tion. Surely I would find my cabbie there and complete my mission.

I came round the cor- ner. The train station was in front of me, a hive of activity. And suddenly I saw it. A quick flash of blue and blonde. I flagged the cab down. The driver recognising me in his mirror,

stopped, a

broad smile on his face. He knew I was about to make his day. The lucky cabbie was Ian Ward, who was delighted with his £1,000 tip.

“I can’t believe I’ve won, I’m going on a family holiday in two weeks so this is per- fect timing!”

So yet again, I’ve made another cabbie £1,000 richer. Check out the photos from the day on Facebook- simply search for my fan page and click the
