TEEN PAIR DETAINED FOR BREAKING LEICESTER CONTROLLER’S LEG
A taxi controller was left in agonising pain with a broken leg after being attacked by two drunks, a court heard. The violence erupted inside the Circle taxi rank office in Leicester when Hyden Shep- herd, Louis Connolly, and two friends got into a taxi but were made to
get out when they did not have enough money to pay the fare. The controller threw Shepherd out of the office and Connolly then grabbed a baby seat and used it to hit the 60-year-old radio controller, knocking him to the ground wherupon Shepherd
went up and deliber- ately stamped on his leg.
According to the Leicester Mercury, Shepherd, 19, from Leicester, was sen- tenced to 30 months in detention. Connolly, 18, from Braunstone, received 12 months in detention.
JAIL FOR EX-RUGBY STAR WHO PUNCHED PLYMOUTH CABBIES
A former under-18 England rugby inter- national punched two taxi drivers on a night out in Plymouth. Plymouth Crown Court heard that Ryan Shahin, now 23, was one of four men who got into a taxi last March.
The driver asked them to leave as he was not
yet in service, but Shahin kicked the back of the seat and punched him in the eye. He also punched another cabbie who came to his aid. According to the Ply- mouth Herald, the court heard that Shahin, from Plymouth, was currently serving an eight-month
jail sentence in Leeds for wounding.
The Judge sentenced Shahin to two months in jail on each count of common assault, and ordered him to pay the first taxi driver £625 for lost wages, the sec- ond £100 and pros- ecution costs of £1,600.

PAIR JAILED OVER VIOLENT ROBBERY OF DERBY DRIVER
Two men who attacked a taxi driver have been jailed.
Dean Croft, 22, and Craig Twigger,
21,
were picked up by the victim last October. When the taxi stopped at their destination, the men punched the 40- year-old driver in the
face, grabbed him round the neck and snatched his takings. Both men then tried to drag the driver from the taxi but he fought them off and managed to drive away.
The driver called police and a hunt was launched for his at-
tackers. Croft and Twigger were identified as the suspects and arrested.
According to the Derby Telegraph, both pleaded guilty to rob- bery at Derby Crown Court and were sen- tenced to 27 months in prison.
FOUR YEARS FOR BOGUS CALLER WHO LURED LINCOLN DRIVER INTO TRAP
A Lincoln driver was robbed after being lured to an address by a bogus call, Lincoln Crown Court was told. When Sean Kavanagh, 55, who was working for St George’s Cars, arrived to collect a fare by the name of Mark he was flagged down by Jason Dye.
The Prosecutor said
another man appeared and demanded Mr Kavanagh’s money while holding a nine- inch blade to his throat. When he said he had no money the man threatened to stab him. Moments later,
Dye
smashed one of the taxi’s windows and searched the driver’s pockets, taking his
phone.
According to the Lin- colnshire Echo, Dye was traced trough blood left behind at the scene. Dye, 21, from Lincoln admitted robbery on February 8 this year and was jailed for four years. Mr Kavanagh has since had to undergo counselling.
