Scotland’s largest taxi firm, Glasgow Taxis Ltd., have recently donated the full livery, costing nearly £1000, to a cab in aid of the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice. The cab is now trans- porting passengers around and about Glasgow and is prov- ing to be a great marketing tool for this worthy cause.

HANDSOME CABBIES? TAXI DRIVERS BARE ALL FOR CALENDAR
The view most black cab passengers have of their driver is just the back of his head. But anyone buying a London cabbies’ char- ity calendar will see a fare bit more than that. Twelve taxi drivers - one for every month of the year - posed naked for the Calendar Girls- style photoshoot, with only artfully placed
street signs to hide behind. It is hoped the £3 calendar will raise £10,000 for the Suzy Lamplugh Trust, which campaigns women’s
for personal
safety in memory of the murdered estate agent. The daring dozen launched the project by stripping off near Tower Bridge. Nick Lanning, the cal-
endar’s Mr October, is pictured holding noth- ing more than a Big Ben street sign to cover his modesty. He was also required to pose in a group shot in public. The pic- ture was taken in front of

LEEDS CAB FIRM OFFERING GROUPS A FARE DEAL
A generous Hunslet taxi firm is offering community groups in south Leeds
the
chance to get hold of a share of its profits. South Leeds and Hun- slet Cars, based in Stafford Street, is giv- ing away £5,000 to good causes. The money - which will come directly from company profits - will be used to help sports teams, social clubs, young people’s groups and other organisations in need of funding. MD Richard Holt told the Yorkshire Evening Post: “We have sup- ported various groups in some shape or form for the last ten years. “Without our loyal cus- tomers we would be nothing and we don’t just want to take from people - we want to
give something back.” South Leeds and Hun- slet Cars have been in business for 30 years and have more than 130 cars. Mr Holt and business partner Glen Harrison have run the company for the last decade and have a keen desire to support groups in the local area. Organisations to have benefited include Mid- dleton-based Dazl Diamonds, who re- ceived sponsorship for kits. South Leeds Youth Hub,
in Belle Isle,
receives £100 a month from the company. Belle Isle Winter Aid, which helps the eld- erly during the winter, has also been given money in the past. “If we keep these prof- its, they will only go to
the taxman,” Mr Holt said. “We do a lot throughout the year to help differ- ent groups - sports teams, dance groups, old people’s groups - and we get all sorts of approaches from differ- ent people asking for sponsorship for their team. We’re both local lads and it’s important to us to be involved in the community.” Staff from the taxi firm took part in a spon- sored skydive last year for the Hunslet Club, which provides activi- ties for young people. It raised £1,000, which was given to Hunslet Club chief executive Dennis Robbins. South Leeds and Hun- slet Cars will give up to £500 to community groups for specific items, equipment or kit.
