36 I Awards

“Fantastic aircraft with the latest technology, superb business class product and at consistently great prices. Can’t wait to try out the Q Suite on my upcoming flight!” Kelly Jones, Singapore

Why I voted

“I’ve been reasonably happy in Delta’s Comfort Class and the flight times work best for me. Also, I can credit the points to my Virgin Australia Velocity programme.” John Heath, Australia

Why I voted DELTA AIR LINES

Delta Air Lines has held on to last year’s crown of Best North American Airline. The US carrier received its first A350 in July, which is now flying between the Detroit hub and Tokyo Narita, with Seoul and Beijing due to follow next year. Last month, it became the first US transatlantic airline to offer free messaging via What’s App and Facebook.

BEST NORTH AMERICAN AIRLINE 1 Delta Air Lines 2 United Airlines 3 American Airlines

BEST MIDDLE EAST/AFRICAN AIRLINE 1 Qatar Airways 2 Emirates 3 Etihad Airways

QATAR AIRWAYS

Qatar Airways extends its winning streak to eight years for the Best Middle East/African Airline award. The carrier has unveiled a range of new luxury products for premium passengers this year, including the new Q Suite business class, door-to-door chauffer-driven transfers for all classes (at a fee), and a new pre-select dining option for business and first class passengers.

AIR ASIA

BEST LOW-COST AIRLINE 1 Air Asia 2 Hong Kong Express

3 Scoot

Air Asia has consistently won the award for Best Low- cost Airline since the category was introduced in 2012. The budget carrier is expanding its fleet aggressively, recently signing a US$12.6 billion deal for 100 A321neo aircraft, and also has its sights set on China with a recently created joint venture to establish a new low-cost carrier based in Zhengzhou.

Why I voted “I have always had a better experience with Air Asia. With other low-cost companies ‘the bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten’.” Ramiro Botelho, Hong Kong
