EDINBURGH SEPTEMBER SAW THE OPENING of Edinburgh’s Market Street hotel, a member of both Carlton Hotel Collection and Design Hotels. Located at the crossroads between the Old and New Towns, the 98-room property has been designed by FG Stijl, with materials including wood, stone, glazed bricks, wool and splashes of tartan. Marble bathrooms feature solid stone basins, rain showers and Votay’s vegan amenities. Te highlight is Nor’ Loſt, a seventh- floor champagne lounge named aſter the loch that was once on this site. Head here for breakfast, aſternoon tea or late-night drinks with small plates, while enjoying views of the city’s UNESCO-listed skyline.

SHORT-HAUL : MILAN MUSIC WEEK, NOVEMBER 18-24 This one-week festival is back for its third year with concerts from the likes of Italian singer Levante (Nov 23), plus DJ sets, meet and greets, workshops and exhibitions. DOMESTIC: CARS: ACCELERATING THE MODERN WORLD, LONDON, NOVEMBER 23-APRIL 19 This automotive exhibition at the V&A looks at the impact cars have had on the modern world over the past 130 years, showcasing 15 vehicles alongside photos and films. Highlights include the first production car in existence, the three-wheeled Messerschmitt KR200 (pictured) and an autonomous flying car. Entry £18; vam.ac.uk
