IHG TIES THE KNOT WITH MR AND MRS SMITH
INTERCONTINENTAL HOTELS GROUP has announced a loyalty partnership with boutique hotel specialist Mr and Mrs Smith allowing IHG Rewards Club members to earn and redeem points on stays at more than 500 extra properties. Launching next year, the tie-up will double the number of luxury and boutique properties available to Rewards Club members, adding hotels in 14 countries where IHG doesn’t currently have a presence. Hotels must be booked through IHG’s website or app. Properties under the Mr and Mrs Smith umbrella include Jasper Conran’s riad hideaway L’Hôtel Marrakech, 18th-century Tuscan estate Borgo Pignano (pictured) and Himalayas retreat the Kumaon.

Manchester airport opens premium paid-for terminal
A NEW TERMINAL WAS SET TO OPEN at Manchester airport when we went to press, promising passengers a “private jet experience” whatever class they are travelling in. Premiair offers departure and arrival packages starting from £50. These include perks such as speedy security screening, transfers to the gate or directly to the aircraft, and access to the terminal’s lounge. In other news, luggage transfer service Airportr has launched
a partnership with Manchester allowing travellers to have luggage collected from their home, office or hotel and checked in at the airport ahead of departure. Meanwhile, Virgin Atlantic will open its first Clubhouse at the airport next year featuring à la carte dining, a full-service bar, quiet working spaces and a spa. The first stage of a huge expansion of Terminal 2 will open next summer; read more on page 78.
BRITISH AIRWAYS BEGINS
B777 CLUB SUITE ROLLOUT BRITISH AIRWAYS HAS RETROFITTED the Club Suite, its new business class seat, on to its first B777 aircraſt aſter unveiling it on an A350-1000 earlier this year. Te new product (reviewed at
businesstraveller.com/tried-and-tested) offers passengers direct aisle access, a fully-flat bed and a sliding door for privacy. It will be rolled out across BA’s whole long-haul fleet, although this will take several years. For now, you can find it on all routes operated by new A350s, beginning with Dubai, Toronto, Tel Aviv and Bengaluru, and on the refurbished B777s, starting with one daily New York flight followed by Seattle, Nairobi, Chicago, Abuja, Kuwait, Boston, Jeddah and Philadelphia early next year.
