As an integral member of the global development commu- nity the OPEC Fund has a long record of cooperation with all major multilateral and bilateral development finance in- stitutions. Partnerships and cooperation agreements also include regional development banks, development finance institutions, United Nations agencies, members of the Arab Coordination Group and civil society organizations.


Working together with the private sector, governments and partner institutions, the OPEC Fund targets key develop- ment priorities aligned with the SDGs through co-financing. The OPEC Fund’s structure allows the institution to quickly respond to urgent challenges and join collaborative efforts, create synergies, share knowledge and extend impactful financing where and when it is needed.


In 2021, the OPEC Fund continued to expand its partner- ships by enhancing its strategic and operational coopera- tion and co-financing public and private sector projects that contribute to sustainable development.


Overall, the OPEC Fund committed US$1.5 billion to devel- opment operations in 2021, many of which were co-financed with partners. The total project value of these operations was more than US$11.4 billion.

The OPEC Fund signed a cooperation agreement with Corporación Andina de Fomento (CAF) in October 2021. Under the partnership, the OPEC Fund will provide funding of up to US$600 mil- lion to public sector projects in Latin America and the Caribbean region over the next three years. The two institutions will also strengthen their capacity to co-finance projects, improve joint preparation and technical assistance and enhance knowledge sharing.
