03 | THE OPEC FUND


– The OPEC Fund received its inaugural ratings by two of the world’s leading rating agencies. Fitch provided a rating of AA+/stable outlook and emphasized the Fund’s “excellent capitalization”. Meanwhile, S&P offered a rating of AA/positive outlook and highlighted the Fund’s “strong funding and liquidity positions.” The ratings represent an important step on the approach towards funding operations.


– The OPEC Fund marked its 45th anniversary in January 2021 with a full display of its new branding and corporate identity. It includes a new logo combining continuation of achievements with optimism about the future. Designed to support the efforts to raise the Fund’s profile and visibility, the new branding helps position the OPEC Fund as an active player even stronger in the international development arena.


Improved corporate governance is strengthening internal effectiveness, while human resources management is stepping up staff development support. Furthermore, an enhanced IT infrastructure is bolstering business operations.


Progress with the implementation of the Strategic Frame- work 2030 would not have been possible without the OPEC Fund staff’s strong support, commitment to the institution’s mission and readiness to embrace change.


The successful implementation of Phase I demonstrates what is possible with a joint effort, driven by a shared goal to widen and deepen the Fund’s development impact. It also sets the scene for the next stages when the OPEC Fund will convert transformational growth from an ambition into reality.
