MORE TO EXPLORE: LEAP INTO SCIENCE PROGRAM (AGES 6–11) Join us during "National Leap into Science Week" as we learn about the wind! We will explore ideas about wind and air by: listening to a story, engaging in science activities, creating a wind-detecting device, and testing the device in a variety of wind speeds.

ANNUAL TEDDY BEAR’S PICNIC STORYTIME! (AGES 2–6) We will have lots of teddy bear friends and a picnic right after storytime at Sernas Plaza* (next to Sam Garcia Library). TEENS TEEN VOLUNTEER DAYS (AGES 12–18) Meet new friends, help out the community, learn valuable work skills, learn about libraries, and earn volunteer hours for school! Volunteers under 18 must have a parent/guardian fill out a waiver prior to starting.

ANNUAL FIRE TRUCK STORYTIME! (AGES 2–6) We’ll be reading and rhyming with some very special guests, then we’ll walk to Fire Station #171 to view the fire truck up close! No registration necessary.

A free library card is available to all Maricopa County residents with a photo ID with current address or a photo ID with a separate proof of address (utility bill, post-marked mail, car registration, etc.). Non-Maricopa County residents may also obtain a card for $40 per year with ID and proof of address.


Your Avondale Library card is valid at the Avondale Civic Center and Sam Garcia Western Avenue Libraries. Your library card allows home access to the Avondale Public Library catalog and research databases.
