orderly evacuation of the building. Education and awareness are key components to an effective fire evacuation program. Directional signs in the hallways and in each dorm room will help students become more fully aware of their options.


On each floor of the facility, the resident staff should proceed down the hall knocking loudly on each door as he/she passes. Staff should unlock each door and check each room.


If there is an actual/real fire, the residents will evacuate to their


assigned EMP.  At the beginning of each semester, resident students meet in the residence hall to receive instruction for various events and situations. Students will receive information concerning their EMP (Emergency Meeting Point) at this time.


 Fire Safety Education and Training Programs provided for student, faculty and staff: Fire Safety education and training is provided to resident assistant students, res life staff and full time res life staff during training week before school starts. Student Services provides training for faculty during a faculty meeting during the fall semester. A first aid and safety class is available for students to take as part of their academic schedule. Staff members may also take the first aid and safety class through the academic office.


 Fire Safety Inspections: Tigerville Fire Department and the NGU CES conduct annual Fire Safety Inspections.


 Future Plans: At this time the University feels that the Fire Safety Policies, building features and warning systems are adequate. Future plans include putting dialers on all the alarms that dial directly to Campus Safety & Security.


2019 Calendar Year: There were no fires reported in the residence halls during the 2019 calendar year.


There were no fires reported in the residence halls during the 2018 calendar year.


There were no fires reported in the residence halls during the 2017 calendar year. A Fire is defined as any instance of open flame or other burning in a place not intended to contain the burning or in an uncontrolled manner
