Referral of Missing Student Reports

In the event any member of our campus community is made aware of a situation involving a missing student, he or she is immediately required to this information to the attention of Campus Safety & Security either in person or by calling (864) 977-7777. Regardless of how long the student is believed to have been missing, Campus Safety & Security must be notified.

Notification of Local Law Enforcement

After a thorough search via campus resources as identified by campus policy. Local law enforcement will be notified within 24 hours of Campus Safety & Security making the determination that a student who lives on-campus is missing. Our local law enforcement agency at North Greenville University is the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO). Notification will be made regardless of the missing student’s age, status, or whether he or she chose to register and emergency contact. The only exception to this will be when the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office made the determination that the student was missing.

Missing Student Disclaimer and Explanation

The above policy statements apply only to current students who reside on-campus. In the event a student who does not reside on-campus is missing, NGU Campus Safety & Security will fully cooperate with the local law enforcement agency who is investigating the missing student incident. However, Campus Safety & Security will not be able to conduct the investigation as it is outside of their jurisdiction. If you believe a student who does not reside on-campus is missing and are unsure whom to contact, NGU Campus Safety & Security may be able to help you locate and contact the appropriate law enforcement agency.
