has moved to take up a senior position with Lagardère Travel Retail in France. As the former CEO of Lagardère Travel
Retail Singapore and Malaysia, Dambrine was responsible for managing a network of over 40 stores, including luxury fashion, gourmet foods and confectionery, travel essentials and food service. He joined the travel retailer in 2008 as
Business Controller responsible for various group subsidiaries.
MacGowan to stand down as Aer Rianta International Chief Exec Aer Rianta International (ARI) has announced that Jack MacGowan (pictured above) is to end his tenure as Chief Executive Officer. In a statement, ARI said MacGowan has
stepped down to pursue a new opportunity. Current ARI Chief Financial Officer Anthony Kenny has been appointed Acting CEO. MacGowan has been head of the thriving
global travel retail business and daa subsidiary since July 2011. Under his stewardship, ARI has driven
an ambitious programme of strategic growth, notably in the Middle East and Pacific regions. Aside completing its largest ever
acquisition with a 50% stake in the Cypriot travel retail business CTC-ARI, ARI has picked up key contract wins in other locations. These include Abu Dhabi, Indonesia, New
Zealand and Saudi Arabia, while retaining existing concessions in Oman and Beirut.
In memoriam: Samuel Kauffmann It is with great sadness that TRBusiness reports the death of Samuel Kauffmann (pictured above), one of Asociacion Sudamericana de Tiendas Libres’ (ASUTIL) original founders. TRBusiness learned of the passing of the
former ASUTIL President and Brasif on 19 May through tributes pouring in via social media. Kauffmann served as ASUTIL President
from January 2003 to December 2005 and was an IAADFS board member at the same time. Alongside Santos de Araujo Fagundes, he
represented Brasif at a meeting attended by a group of South American DF&TR operators in early 1994. This led to the start of the process that
culminated in the creation of ASUTIL. In a statement, ASUTIL said: “With deep

one of the iconic promoters and defenders. “ASUTIL loses one of its founders,
Presidents and someone who always provided great support. “We all lose a friend and an excellent
person who was always open for a chat and to give advice.”
John Woodhouse and Schaefer launch Schäfer Airport Retail Experienced travel retail executive John Woodhouse (pictured below) has partnered with Schaefer Travel Retail to launch new company Schaefer Airport Retail, TRBusiness can reveal. Woodhouse, who was appointed DFS
Group Vice President Airport Strategy last May, is taking ‘a shareholding’ in Schaefer Airport Retail and has been appointed Managing Director. It is understood that he will re-locate to
Germany, having spent the last 10 years living in China and Hong Kong. According to Woodhouse, who began his
career at Aer Rianta International (ARI) and has since worked for WHSmith, Schaefer Airport Retail will focus on the supply and category management of technology items and travel accessories to airport retailers. Talking to TRBusiness exclusively,
Woodhouse said: “We have built a complete range of sound, power and lifestyle products that sit perfectly in an airport store. “This is made up of established brands
and newcomers, a variety that will be added to as supplier negotiations continue.”
