Atria Senior Living, based in Louisville, Ky., has named Steve Bowers as maintenance di- rector at Atria Senior Living Highland Park, located on Chicago’s North Shore. He will be responsible for the upkeep and smooth operation of the new $30 million, 70,000-sq.- ft. community. He has more than 20 years of experience in senior living communities.


Benchmark, headquartered in Waltham, Mass., has been named an honoree of Bos- ton Business Journal’s 2020 Corporate Citi- zenship Awards. This is the second consecu- tive year that the company has been named to the publication’s list of Largest Corporate Charitable Contributors in Massachusetts. In 2019, Benchmark supported the Alz- heimer’s Association of Massachusetts and New Hampshire, the American Heart As- sociation, and FriendshipWorks, and other organizations. In addition, it raised funds for its Benchmark’s One Company Fund, which recently have gone to help associates facing challenges.


Gail Matillo, president and CEO, Florida Senior Living Association has been appoint- ed to the state’s Florida’s Task Force on the Safe and Limited Re-Opening of Long- Term Care Facilities. Members of the task force will work together to develop guidelines on how to safely allow family members to visit their loved ones in Florida’s long-term care facilities where visitation has been pro- hibited since March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.


Legend Senior Living, based in Wichita, Kan- sas, has named Melissa Briscoe, RN, Kan- sas/Colorado regional healthcare director. Prior to accepting the position with Legend, Briscoe worked as director of nursing at the Catholic Care Center and director of quality and infection control for Ascension. Also at Legend, Melissa Bossert has been promoted to regional director of operations for Florida from her former position as Legend’s Area Director of North Florida, which she held for two years. She has been in senior living for 25 years.


PharMerica, based in Louisville, Ky., pub- lished “Hydroxychloroquine Sulfate Pre- scribing Trends and Pharmacist-Led Out- break Preparedness in Long-Term Care Pharmacy During COVID-19” in the Journal of the American Medical Directors Association. The research article describes the methods the pharmacy used to support patients and staff in long-term care settings since the COVID-19 pandemic began and illustrates prescribing trends of hydroxychlo- roquine sulfate in facilities during the first 100 days of the U.S. COVID-19 pandemic.

Sodexo, based in Gaithersburg, Md., was named for the sixth consecutive year one of the “Best Places to Work for Disability Inclu- sion” by the Disability Equality Index (DEI), a joint initiative between the American As- sociation of People with Disabilities (AAPD) and Disability:IN to recognize organizations who promote diversity and disability inclu- sion in the workplace. Sodexo received a score of 100 percent and was a top scorer among 247 other businesses.

Maggie Elehwany, J.D., has joined Argentum as senior vice


president, public affairs. Her leadership and expertise will be vital in elevating awareness of


the public policy priorities most critical to the senior living industry’s long-term health. Since 2007, Elehwany had served as vice president, government affairs at the National Rural Health Association where she developed and implemented federal policy for the 22,000-member association. Elehwany received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Oregon School of Law.

Welltower, based in Tole- do, Ohio, has appointed Diana Reid to its board of directors. With over 38 years of experience with- in the financial services industry, Reid joins Well-


tower’s board following 12 years at PNC Fi- nancial Services, most recently serving as executive vice president of the PNC Finan- cial Services Group, Inc., and executive of the bank’s commercial real estate business. Welltower’s Board of Directors will expand to nine members following Reid’s appoint- ment, with women and minorities making up 88 percent of independent directors. In ad- dition, Welltower released its 2019 annual corporate social responsibility report, which included achievements such as being named to FORTUNE’s World’s Most Admired Companies list; inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for the second consecutive year and the Dow Jones North American Index for the fourth consecutive year; and being awarded ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year for the second consecu- tive year.
