Inspiration for the term ahead, plus giveaways for your school Agenda Volunteering support
Help with mental health Mental health is a hot topic in schools right now, with the significant impact of lockdown on the wellbeing of young people widely recognised. The Self-Esteem Team is on hand to help, with a range of school talks and workshops available for 8-18-year-olds, under the headings ‘Mental’, ‘Stressed’, ‘Body’ and ‘Self-Esteem’. Each one is based on clinical study, and uses tried-and-tested techniques to help pupils build a foundation for good mental health, recognising how and when they are struggling, and how and where to seek support. The engaging talks, suitable for pupils in Year 4 upwards, are delivered by experienced speakers who are adept at connecting with young people. The company is currently offering reduced rates for virtual talks. Visit
selfesteemteam.org/ mental-health-resilience-school to find out more.
School communication app Classlist has put together a free download to help you identify the Covid-friendly tasks that your school community can get involved with this year. The Volunteer Wishlist 2021 suggests a range of easy and fulfilling
tasks aimed at supporting pupils, school staff and the wider community, as well as fundraising ideas. There’s also an editable appreciation certificate for thanking volunteers. Download at

Online uniform sales Top auction prizes
Market-leading fundraising auction company Exceed Fundraising has helped hundreds of charities raise vital funds through online and in-person auctions. It offers a huge range of fundraising prizes for charities to auction off (on a sale or return basis) and provides an online platform for showcasing your prizes to your supporters. With more and more PTAs turning to online fundraising this year, Exceed Fundraising has created a new platform aimed at PTAs, offering new and engaging options for effective school fundraising. The easy-to-use platform allows you to spec your own branded online fundraiser, using some of Exceed’s prizes – such as top dining experiences and weekend breaks – and also providing an accessible shop window for your own prizes too. You could run an auction as a standalone event, or include it as part of a virtual summer fair. All payment processing and prize fulfilment is done for you. Visit
exceedgrp.com/pta to find out more, and mention PTA+ for a 50% discount on services.
Selling second-hand school uniform can be a great earner for PTAs, and is something that’s appreciated by many parents too. For a cashless, virtual alternative to in-person sales, there are now a number of dedicated online marketplaces for second-hand uniform, including Uniformd (
uniformd.co.uk), Uniformerly (
uniformerly.co.uk) and ShopKeepEasy (
shopkeepeasy.com). All are easy to set up and share with your school community. Fees vary, so visit each site for more details, and decide which option will work best for your PTA.
TOP TIP
Remember to ask for donations of used uniform from school
leavers (which may be in particularly
good condition this year).
