Outdoor activities brought to you
After a lengthy period of learning behind screens, it’s time to get children outside again. The Outdoor Education Company’s adventure activities enable pupils to experience the excitement of a school trip without leaving the school site. The company offers 12 options,
including portable climbing walls, archery ranges, laser tag and team- building exercises. Schools can book activities individually or as part of a day package. All activities are fully mobile and can be brought to schools anywhere in the UK. The Outdoor Education Company
works with whole classes or smaller groups, and sessions usually last for around an hour, with most activities accommodating up to 150 participants throughout the day. The diverse team of DBS-checked instructors come from
a range of backgrounds, and include past and present GB paraclimbers. Participants with disabilities are welcome and supported in all activities. Eleanor Blockley, curriculum and assessment lead, Leicester City Primary Pupil Referral Unit, Leicester, says: ‘Before Covid, we had been going out of school one afternoon every week to enable our children to experience something new. After it became impossible to go out and about, I came across a flyer for The Outdoor Education Company. They bring the experiences we were travelling to find directly to your school. Their range of adventurous activities
was something I had never seen available on school grounds before. During the second half of the autumn term, they came to us for a range of
different activities every week. We have children from Year 1 to Year 6, and all pupils were able to take part. They were excellent at adapting their
activities so that all pupils could really benefit from each activity. They ran aeroball, a construction challenge, skateboarding, archery and laser tag, and made all of these activities work on our small site. The Outdoor Education Company
worked with our staff and children to make the sessions an appropriate length. It was definitely money well spent. The activities were excellent, and the children really liked the instructor, Lauren, as she has a lovely calm manner. Staff couldn’t speak highly enough of the experience!’
