As 2023 gets under way, we’re raising the curtain on the shortfall in funding for the arts in schools. The creative industries are a major driver for the UK economy. Yet arts, performance and design subjects have been effectively sidelined in educational funding streams, to the point where creatives is going to come from. So what can schools do to redress this? JUSTIN SMITH is managing director of Chameleon Training and Consultancy

chameleon-training.co.uk) providing specialist marketing and income-generation support to the education sector.
LOUISE BENNETT is CEO of the Institute of Development Professionals in
Education, which supports schools to develop fundraising and engagement programmes through training, guidance, benchmarking and partnership work.
SHARON NOBLE is development manager at Chestnut Grove Academy in
London. She previously worked in community fundraising as manager of Sutton Ecology Centre, and then director of Vauxhall City Farm.
HELEN BURGE is deputy chief operations officer at The Priory Learning Trust. She is a fellow
of the ISBL and school resource management adviser with Cotswold Beacon Academy Trust.
