FLIGHT PATHS TO RECOVERY


It is one of Lancashire’s most important industries, employing around 17,000 people, but the economic uncertainty caused by Covid-19 and the carnage it has wreaked on the air travel sector have caused the loss of hundreds of jobs around the county.


Commercial airline manufacturers have seen orders slashed and the impact has been felt  and Safran Nacelles among the businesses 


By bringing together


a range of businesses the LEP obtained real- time evidence on the issues and challenges encountered


Against this backdrop of uncertainty, Lancashire Enterprise Partnership (LEP) is putting together a detailed plan to help the county’s aerospace 


 


interventions over the short, medium and 


 scenarios the sector may face, which in in turn depend on the duration of travel restrictions 


Measures it recommends range from retraining and upskilling individuals ready for a more immediate rebound, through to encouraging governments to bring forward defence spending 


 companies in Lancashire and the task force  


 out how the recommendations the task force  ensure Lancashire retains its position in the global market, ready for the time the sector 
