DON’T FIXATE ON THE FIGURES

By Laurence O’Connor CEO, Financial Affairs

Instead of fixating endlessly on the figures, when was the last time you stopped to consider what your money is actually doing for you?

At Financial Affairs, we take a distinctive and holistic approach to financial planning and investment management. Consider the example of a young couple with limited surplus income but a substantial mortgage.

For them, a few pounds allocated each month to safeguard that mortgage is more important than accumulating thousands in a pension.

Having this insurance in place gives them peace of mind, knowing they’re protected should the unforeseen happen to either one of them.

Instead of stressing over the numbers, ask yourself the following questions:

• What are your financial objectives? • What keeps you up at night?

• What steps can we take to address these concerns?

A great way to tackle these questions is by employing sophisticated modelling techniques and personalised financial strategies.

One particular couple I worked with recently had the goal of retiring at the age of 60. Their primary concern was that they could run out of money if they retired too soon.

By using advanced modelling tools, we assessed long-term average investment returns based on the amount of risk they were willing to take.

This meant we could project their income and expenditure over time, providing a clearer picture of their financial security.

At Financial Affairs, we understand that everyone’s financial story is unique. So, when assessing your financial plans, don’t forget to look at the real-life implications of your wealth and investments to ensure your specific concerns are addressed.

And remember - the figures don’t tell the whole story!

MAXIMISING THE IMPACT OF YOUR

CHARITABLE GIVING by Karen Morris

Development director and deputy CEO, Community Foundation for Lancashire

More than ever, individuals and businesses are proactively looking at the benefits of charitable giving as part of their financial planning.

However, whilst they may want to give back to causes close to their heart, they may not know where to start.

The role of the Community Foundation for Lancashire is to support individuals and business owners to make informed charitable investment decisions, and our team can help you explore the options open to you.

Setting up your own charity from scratch and promoting it is a huge commitment that many can’t make.

However, we can take the stress out of promoting and managing a trust, by implementing an off-the- shelf charitable foundation that is bespoke to your needs.

Moira O’Shaughnessy is managing partner of Financial Planning

She explains: “Setting up your own charity from scratch and promoting it is a huge commitment that many can’t make. However, the Community Foundation makes it all so easy.

“It’s an off-the-shelf charitable foundation but bespoke to your own needs. We view the Community Foundation as a key partner as we help our clients make a difference locally.”

Our ‘one-stop-shop’ support service ensures a robust approach, and that any investment is in safe hands. Our expert advice, sound management, and due diligence support service, makes charitable giving easy, tax-efficient and robust.

Like any financial decisions, you will want to see your return on investment, and the positive social impact your giving has made. This is all part of our bespoke service.

Supporting your charitable giving, as part of financial planning.

We support individuals, businesses and professional advisors to make informed charitable investment decisions for themselves, or on behalf of their clients.
