BEING BOLD IN A BRAVE NEW WORLD
Do you have what it takes to be bold?
Boldness is about having the courage to believe the uncharted waters you are exploring are worth the journey, however choppy they may be.
Andy Garnett THE TIME IS RIGHT
Andy Garnett is in no doubt that now is the right time to focus on the future, despite the impact of coronavirus on the UK’s economic fortunes.
And that is just what he is doing, with the launch of his new Blackpool-based property development business and his search for new investment and development opportunities.
The former director and co-founder of one of the North West’s biggest land and housebuilding companies has established Breck as a development, investment, land promotion and housebuilding firm to bring forward schemes across the region.
He talks of strategic joint ventures and his belief that the need for more affordable housing is likely to be one of the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Co-founder of MCI Developments in 2011, Andy helped grow it to become one the North West’s largest affordable housing developers before the business was sold to Keepmoat Homes in 2017.
He says: “It was great to be part of the MCI story, a business we built from scratch and which grew very quickly to attract the interest of one of the UK’s largest housebuilders.
“Since leaving the business last year, I’ve been looking for a new challenge. With Breck, the focus will be on select property investment and development opportunities, as well bringing forward major regeneration projects in the affordable housing arena. We have been very busy already.”
Breck, based at Blackpool Technology Park, has three divisions. Breck Investments focuses on commercial property investment opportunities; Breck Developments concentrates on strategic land opportunities and special projects; while Breck Homes specialises in the construction of affordable properties for registered providers.

property investment and development opportunities
Breck’s upcoming projects include a scheme of 55 affordable homes at Claughton-on-Brock and eight luxury apartments in Bramhall near Stockport.
Since Andy’s exit from MCI in April 2019, Breck, which has a five-strong staff, has already acquired around £13m in property investments.
Andy, 37, who lives on the Fylde Coast, started his property career with Barratt Homes in Manchester in 2004 and then spent several years with Irish housebuilder McInerney Homes before going on to start MCI Developments.
Over his time in the construction and development industry Andy has acquired more than 120 development and investment sites.

Before Covid-19 and lockdown, the business world was moving fast. Innovation was happening more rapidly than ever and technology was evolving constantly, therefore businesses needed to be bolder to be successful.
Being bold is almost an unspoken requirement now, given the events of the last three months. How else can businesses recover and resurge? They are being required to diversify their markets, develop new products and services, become more financially robust and be more productive. All of this in a changed landscape of remote working and what could be a significant period of economic recovery.
But this new environment presents new opportunities to all businesses. Companies around the world have invested in quality video and remote working capabilities, making it easier than ever to reach potential customers in new markets.
While traditional retail still grinds slowly back into gear, the demand for online services and products has never been greater. This is bringing new opportunities to those with a product which can be shipped or a service which can be delivered virtually. There are challenges ahead, but there is also a wealth of new possibilities.
Lancashire County Council has a range of support to help you as you look to the next steps for your business. Through Boost we can assist all Lancashire companies as part of the #BoostYourRecovery campaign.
We have also developed a tailored support programme to help Lancashire’s fastest- growing companies be bold. Two Zero Scaleup Resurgence will give these companies the tools to return to full strength this summer.
