Opinion: Your right to disconnect
Countrywide Couriers has reported a surge in demand. The Burnley organisation operates an emergency, same day, door to door delivery service which has proven a lifeline to many companies over the last few months. “With social distancing and remote working there is a greater need for transport companies to deliver items around the country. Our business has never been so important,” the company said.
Entrepreneur and business owner Matthew Riley has been supporting various local charities during the pandemic. The founder of telecoms firm Daisy backed the Ribble FM Community Group, Burnley FC in the Community, Pendle Food For All, Inspiring Grace and Nelson Community Mosque. In total, he funded more than 450 meals per week which were delivered to vulnerable Lancashire residents.
Adlington-based warehousing, storage and fulfilment specialist Andrew Porter has boosted its on-site security with a new system. A combination of high definition cameras, tracking software and motion- detection devices provides peace of mind for customers who store items such as furniture, pharma supplies, raw materials and e-commerce stock at the firm’s extensive facility.
