Strong communities

INVESTING WHERE WE LIVE AND WORK PGE partners with stakeholders on initiatives that help strengthen local communities, support our company mission and reflect the values of our customers and employees.

Community initiatives

PGE and the PGE Foundation make investments in three primary areas: • Education and workforce development • Safe and healthy families • Environmental stewardship

Our work in the community focuses on long-term transformational results. Benefits from our investments are not always instant or easy to measure. However, from company leadership to individual employee volunteers, we believe in the power of intentional, strategic community involvement.

PGE FOUNDATION

The Foundation has awarded almost $18 million since 1997. Find out more and read our annual report.

In addition, we contribute to education initiatives that

prioritize mentorship, including: • Portland Community College Future Connect program • Willamette Academy and engineering internships • Scholarships for Oregon State University students

SAFE AND HEALTHY FAMILIES Preparing Oregonians There is nothing more important to us than the safety of our customers and employees. In 2013, we teamed up with the American Red Cross on its multiyear Prepare! initiative to help Oregonians prepare for emergencies of all kinds.

Keeping our children safe We offer a variety of safety materials and interactive experiences, including Pedro’s Path to Power, an engaging show we created with Oregon Children’s Theatre that educates school-age children about electrical safety.

EDUCATION & WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT Developing the next generation of PGE employees We work with community partners to close the achievement gap and advance science, technology, engineering and math education programs. We also support arts education programs that foster creativity in our future workforce.

Making an impact in students’ lives PGE has sponsored the Women in Trades Career Fair for 14 years and offers K-12 schools in our service area a variety of resources to spark learning on electrical safety, energy efficiency and renewable power.
