TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES Equipping managers Direct supervisors play a critical role in employee engagement, satisfaction and success. We encourage managers to build strong management practices, and our management appraisals reflect not only what managers achieve, but how they achieve it.

Employee survey scores indicate we still have work to do in this area, and we’re providing additional tools and resources to help managers more effectively engage their teams.

Partnering for success To prepare for anticipated retirements in the line trades and improve completion rates for our journeyman lineman apprenticeship program, we partnered with union representatives to make improvements. Working together, we developed a line pre-apprenticeship program, launched in 2013, to develop a strong workforce.

We began the program with 10 internal candidates, and six were awarded apprenticeships that same year. We continue to be encouraged by the progress we’re seeing and believe this program will boost our apprenticeship program completion rates.

Developing a well-rounded skillset In addition to building role-specific skills, offering cross- training and mentorship opportunities, and providing tuition reimbursement, we offer training to help all employees navigate interpersonal interactions and challenges common

to modern work environments. • Accountability • Change management • Communication • Diversity • Efficiency and effectiveness • Focus and prioritization • Leadership • Basic industry and company knowledge • Safety
