The scheme launches following the latest


‘Workforce Renewal & Skills Strategy 2020- 2025’ sector publication, facilitated by the Energy & Utilities Skills Partnership. One of the key strategic priorities included Sector Attractiveness, Recruitment andWorkforce Diversity. The strategy also highlights the need for 277,000 newrecruits to the sector by 2030.


The Apprenticeship Pledge takes action and supports the sector’s strategy, stating the commitment to investing in apprenticeships,


and that as a sectorwe viewapprenticeships as paramount to securing the right skills for the future.


While apprentices are beingmade redundant, organisations likeMorrison Utility Services are breaking themouldwith this scheme and investing in skills for the future. 32 sector organisations have signed up to the pledge to continuewith their apprenticeship programmes.


United Utilities launches application assistance for would-be apprentices

United Utilities has launched a range of free online courses to help potential apprentices prepare for interviews and job applications.


The NorthWestwater firmhasworkedwith The Launch Group to create the learning modules and guides to help young people successfully apply for apprenticeship roles.


The company’s own apprenticeship scheme is currently open for applications until Sunday 20th September 2020.


The newmodules are free, open to anyone.


Themodules include:


• CVwriting & development - A 14module course aimed at providing an insight into howto successfully build and design your own CV, customised for any job application.





Interviewskills & techniques – Guidance on howto prepare, performand impress

• A guide to interviewassessment days - Studymaterial that teaches learners how to successfully negotiate assessment days. The course has fivemain componentswith additional bonus content on howto create and deliver presentations,which commonly forma big part of any assessment day.


• Application forms –What to look out for and howto ensure your application exceeds the required standard needed in order to progress to the next stage of the Interviewprocess.

“We recognise nowis a timewhen people particularly need some extra support,which is why, for the very first time,we’ve teamed up with recruitment company, The Launch Group, to create a range of learningmodules, employability related courses and informative guides for potential apprentices, to help them be as prepared as possible for the application process.


“Whether it’s someone applying for an apprenticeshipwith us, or a role elsewhere,we want to give young people some extra support and guidance during a difficult time. These courseswill enhance applications and give applicants the best chance of finding employment,” she added.
