The HVC or High Volume Combination is claimed to be a serious contender,with the focus on larger diameter sewer jetting but againwith gully emptying capacity. The HVC features tank capacities from7,700 l (1,700 gallon) to 14,500 l (3,200 gallon)mounted on to chassiswith GVWfrom18 to 32 t. TheMistral vacuumpumps offer from245 to 500 cfmwith anORCA jetting pumpwith capacity of 264 lpmat 136 bar. Again, there is a hydraulic door and clamps, the gully emptying boom, the hydraulic powered self-aligning hose reel and the comprehensive list of additional options.
Incorporating all the features of theMVC, the jetting performance is taken to the next level to provide amachine to take on awider range of duties as required bymunicipal customers. Equippedwith the hydraulically powered jetting hose reel, togetherwith improved flow and pressure fromthe large jetting pump, there is little, it is claimed that the HVC cannot handle.

WIEDEMANNenviro tec: TheWiedemann Gully-Cleaner is designed for emptying and cleaning of gullies. A compact unit built it is built onto to a sweeper or a suction vehicle. Driving, turning, braking and operating are done in the front operating platformby on person so thewhole operation can be one- man operated. The operating platformis mounted in front of the vehicle and can extend sideways (to the right) up to 2,500mm. A left sideways extension is also available for one
way streets or supposedly the reverse of this for right hand drive countries. The platform extends bymeans of Electro-Hydraulic drives.
The unit operates by using an hydraulic lifting devicewhich removes the gully cover. The grabbing armpicks the cover andwith a 90° rotation the cover is secured firmly. The cover is then lifted automatically and thenmanually swung away fromits location. The suction is undertaken by themeans of a DN 125 suction hose (the height ofwhich can be adjusted as with the telescoping telescoping). The negative pressure is created by a sweeper blower or by a vacuumdevice to remove the detritus. Any splashed sludge can be cleaned by using a small high pressure pistol.
The advantages claimed for the unit include:

ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENTAND SYSTEMS
Aswell as themore obvious gully cleaning trucks there is also a huge range of accessory equipment that often can and in some cases must be usedwhen undertaking gully cleaning works. Inmost instances this is usedwith the operative’s health and safety verymuch at the forefront of thinking.
One operation that is verymuch at the top of this list is the opening of the gully gratings. This can at time be one of themost difficult parts of thework simply because quite often the gully grating that is to be opened has not beenmoved for years and is almost locked in place by roadside debris and other detritus that has accumulated over time.
Oneway of overcoming this obstacle is the use of amechanical lifting
device.One such device is offered by Sunrise Tools. In production since 2011, the Drain Buddy has been proven to unseat and open gully gratings and slatted covers in a safe and securemanner. In a simple three stage process, the user first engages the toolwith the grating. The operator then steps on the armof the unit, applying their body weight to unseat the grating. The telescopic handle is then extended to hinge the grating open, a clever deployment of simple leverage principles tomaximise lifting forces using minimal input effort. Compact for storage, easy
