Dexter Watson: reduce
I’ve got to say it was pretty gloomy listening to the traffic report on the radio this morning, filled with negative phrases like “road closures, tailbacks, accidents, police incidents, allow extra time for your journey” etc. It was then followed by the news slot with climate change high on the agenda; yet again filled with adverse phrases such as “melting polar ice, rising sea levels, greenhouse gasses etc”.
The gully and sweeper station
The tanker waste station
emissions, save time & money by Steve Lawrie, DexterWatson
It occurred to me that Dexter Watson has been helping the fight against global warming by providing the means to reduce emissions for quite some time with their innovative mobile satellite waste transfer stations.
Dexter Watson produces two types of stations; one to handle tanker and general waste streams and the other to handle gully and road sweeper waste residues. Being modular, both systems can be easily added to when demand on them increases.
The tanker waste station comprises of a screening container followed by a polymer dosing unit and dewatering container. The gully and sweeper station comprises of a screening container, vehicle reversing platform, a Hi-Tip reception container and a drainage container, a polymer dosing unit and a dewatering container. Both systems have ability to recycle the filtrate arising from the dewatering process for re- use in other applications. After being processed through a final filtration system removing bacteria, hydrocarbons, heavy metals, nitrates and reduces ammonia levels. The filtered water produced is safe water to work with, alleviating the need to use a designated hydrant draw point.
Filtrate
The advantages of both stations is they are mounted onto a hooklift rollonoff system and can be easily maneuvered and placed in a central location, reducing wasted mileage, fuel consumption, wear and tear on vehicles and the impact on the environment. They also
eliminate the big bugbear of relying on WWTW gate opening / closing times which frequently results in “standing loads”. The systems also provide the operator with a clean environment to work in.
Overall both systems offers a 24/7 facility giving the operator greater flexibility in their processes, resulting in greater productivity as well as providing substantial cost savings and more importantly greatly reducing emissions.
