engineering at Coventry University.

Krystian works at using automation, for example in dosing treatments at water treatment plants, along with actuators and instruments in chemical mixing, batching and data centres, to improve accuracy and minimise human error.

FIG comprises people new to the industry and in a variety of roles. Its key aims for the coming year are to explore how to bring more people into the industry as well as to promote the long service life of plastic pipes in addition to their sustainability credentials and their

important contribution to providing secure infrastructure.

As Krystian comments: “We want to look more closely at university links and also see how much young people know about careers in this industry, with a view to raising its profile and attractiveness to them. We’ll also be looking at the tools professionals out there employ in their current specification and use of plastic pipes.”

Other FIG work includes providing support to the BPF Pipes Group Technical Groups, which cover pressure

systems including water and gas, non- pressure systems for drains, sewers and surface water, systems for soil, waste and rainwater and systems for water supply and heating for buildings.

The BPF Pipes Group is the leading trade association for the UK’s plastic pipes and fittings manufacturers. It strives to promote best practice in the construction and use of all types of plastic pipes and fittings and its website contains a wide selection of free-to- access technical documents and practical guidance.

Danaher & Walsh enhances resources to support long-term Anglian Water partnership

Danaher & Walsh, a leader in civil engineering across the East Midlands and beyond, is proud to announce a significant investment in cutting-edge camera technology to enhance our sewer inspection processes and strengthen our long-term partnership with Anglian Water through the AMP8 framework.

This investment includes the purchase of state-of-the-art camera equipment designed to conduct thorough assessments of sewer conditions and identify necessary maintenance or upgrades efficiently. The new technology comprises a portable system for our RISC team (£36,000) and two advanced 100- meter pan and rotate systems (£26,000) — one dedicated to our Pipelining team and another for the Civil Engineering division.

In addition, the Pipelining team has acquired two new 60-meter Solo Pro units (£13,500) to replace older frontline equipment, ensuring that we continue to deliver superior service and outcomes for our clients.

Further bolstering our capabilities, we have placed orders for two IMS Lateral Robotic Micro Cutters (£170,000), which are expected to arrive by mid-March

2025. These investments in state of the art survey and robotic equipment formpart of a broader strategic enhancement initiative, with the first phase expenditures totalling approximately £245,500.

We are also investing in a new grab lorry (£181,000) with delivery due March 2025 to reinforce our support of the teams on AW with deliveries of materials to site and also remove spoil from multiple sites ensuring sites are cleared in an efficient way.

The above investments form Phase 1 and total £426,500.

Plans for Phase two forecast an additional investment of around £130,000 which consists of a bespoke CCTV van fully fitted with all CCTV equipment and welfare facility, with a potential Phase 3 investment into a recycler jetting lorry that would bring the total investment to £1.1 million.

“Danaher & Walsh is committed to continually investing in our infrastructure and expertise to meet and exceed client needs. This investment exemplifies our dedication to delivering excellence today and in the future.”Dave Burkill Framework Manager Danaher & Walsh Civil Engineering.
